Wire-wrapping your own board is about the same (US$30-50) in cost as buying that NMIY-0031 board, which has lots of features. Which? You'll have to visit their site, http://www.newmicros.com/ for a list of all the available peripherals. They're off-board, of course, but connectors are provided for them. The $100 SiLabs board has fewer "features," but much more MCU.
which do you miss? I know the SiLabs board has that DIN41612 connector for some sort of expansion, but they won't even tell me the gender of the connector, though I've asked 'em several times. That's one thing that's kept me from buying one of the things for my own trial. What I miss is having a selection of peripheral devices that can be attached or not. Erik I often prefer to buy rather than build when I know what's needed and when it's available (seldom). Also, I need it to be reusable. I don't know that there are any useful external gadgets available for the SiLabs board. I do know that their A/D is too slow for anything I've considered so far. I need a minimum of 40 MSamples/second and 250 would be better. That's why an external device would be preferable. That way YOU wouldn't have to buy it just so I could have it. RE |
