#146748 - hobby... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Erik,
you once said to me that you NEVER do electronics as hobby. If you would, you would perhaps see the difference. Also, please, mind the possibilities stemming from the geographical position of both me and Yashveer. If I go to our local "stone" shop to buy some parts (and believe me, only a single one is left today in what we call a capital), 99.9% of them are 5V. I then can buy them at a mail service, where about 97.5% of parts are 5V. Then, I can of course buy them from Farnell and similar, or import them from USA (namely Digikey and maybe Mouser), or even some of the wholesaler/distributors are willing to sell a small amount for the hobbyists (usually they insist on selling at least a tube, which is one of the reasons why I put the 'V51RD2 in each and every of my hobby stuff - I had to buy 3 tubes of them back then); but no of these options is really fit to a hobbyist budget. The devkit is fine as long as you intend to build exactly ONE device. Most of the hobbyists don't want to stop there... SKK 0.02, I admit it's not too much... :-) JW PS. This is also why monitors are a valid option for the hobbyists. Call them cheap if you want, they indeed are. |
