So you mean to say that even if DTR is left open there's no problem. Then only connections are pins 2,3 and 5 on DB9 connector.
What should be the sequence of steps to program the MCU??
(Assuming hardware is ready)
1. Short PSEN jumper(so that PSEN is connected to GND through a 1k resistor)
2. Power ON the board
3. Open Flash Magic and follow the steps given there
