You're right ... I should simply have gone around all the advocacy for this MCU or that, and addressed the question. It's just that "red herrings" are a "hot-button" of mine. They're just a way of throwing the thread off-topic and saying, essentially, "I don't want to answer your quesiton. I just want to go on and on about what I think."
I've been irritated, of late, by the general inclination many of the participants here seem to have, to advocate for their favorite solution to a specific problem or to any problem, rather than to address the issue introduced by the O/P of whatever thread. That's the reason I jumped the first responder. His was TOO obvious an opening for me to vent my frustration. It was an obvious example of me doing what I criticize others for doing, and, for that, I apologize. RE |
