#113217 - You're right, and he knows it Responding to: ???'s previous message |
That's been my point all along, Andy. I'm glad someone finally said something, as I was about to do so.
The O/P, in his later post, clearly indicated that his teachers weren't "up" on this technology as he might have preferred. He clearly indicated that his question was not limited to 805x. He even indicated he had limited experience with the 6502. This poor fellow was clever enough to state his question in a way that no one who read it in its entirety could mistake for anything else, that he wanted, on his own but with some guidance from those of us who purportedly know something about it, to learn about how to decode the memory address bus. This is basic knowledge that many regular participants in this forum don't understand as well as they should, as evidenced by occasional slightly misleading comments that crop up from time to time. A little humility would go a long way toward improving the atmosphere in and usefulness of this forum. Some fact-checking wouldn't be a bad thing. Some spell-checking wouldn't hurt, either. A person who's fluent in English will easily recognize mistyped words, etc, as what they are, but one whose English skills are limited, might puzzle for some time over a mistyped word or an error in grammar or syntax, e.g. "there" where it should say "their." Yes, I admit it, I'm pedantic where English is concerned. I'm a foreigner, born in Germany, and had to learn English. Every time I read an article written in German, though, I'm acutely aware of the sensitivity one of limited technical vocablulary might have to mistyped, mis-stated, or otherwise "slightly-off" phrases or comments. For the benefit of those to whom I'm referring, I think we should endeavor to spell correctly, and carefully limit our use of popular idioms, so someone from a non-English-speaking culture can focus on the information and not on the idioms.
