Yes, the O/P should have said more, but, if his question is, "How do I decode a memory address in a memory system?" which IS what he asked, isn't that enough?

hardly, as I said in http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=113150 there are, at least, 5 different answers of which 4 would be wrong.
