#113083 - Requirements, a most important variable Responding to: ???'s previous message |
You've hit on the most important point, Peter, and that's the REQUIREMENTS. If a device doesn't need more memory, or any other resource, than what's provided internally, then no external decoding is required. However, if one has an 8031, for example, it DOES require external memory and might well benefit from other external resources.
The OP asked about how to decode the memory address, but the first thing he got, from you, in this case, instead of an answer to his question, was an implied criticism for not using a part that didn't require it. While this is a reasonable thing to wonder, wouldn't it be more thoughtful to answer his question? That question didn't even specifically ask about 805x core MCU's, but asked the question in a way applicable to nearly any sort of microcontroller/microprocessor device. Why not answer the question asked rather than attacking the individual for asking it? RE |
