#113152 - the reason mainly is "students" Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Wouldn't it be more helpful to all concerned to find out why his hardware isn't working, rather than trying to persuade him to use a completely different architecture?
In a post Zeeshan mentioned "easier for the students to understand" (paraphrase).http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=113030 If, indeed, this to be be teaching then hooking 3 mismatched outmoded chips on a instructional board is outright deception. Students have the right to expect to be taught current technology. If, by "experimenting" and "testing", something comes out of this that seems to work all students will leave with a total disregard for datasheets (they will "know" that 8MHz max "works" with 12MHz) We'll all learn more if we stick with the problem and try to find a solution rather than trying to evade the issue, never mind that his initial design may not be to our liking. Absolutely right, but "learning" how to run a 8MHz chip with a 12 MHz clock by "writing twice", is outright deception. As long as Zeeshan keep insisting that writing twice solves a timing problem, I will keep stating what and as I state. Erik |
