What access time are you using for the 82xx's? I don't disagree that they're really too slow for modern usage, but I don't think it's because he wants to use a <12 MHz oscillator. Maybe you can run the numbers for me.
True, his decoding logic is a mite deep, but it could be redone to speed it up. All he needs is settled addresses and valid nCS. The Toshiba 8255's have a 250 ns Tacc from nCS, IIRC. That's about 6 cycles at 41.6ns per cycle, isn't it? Why do you limit him to 8 MHz? RE |
