"HAND SOLDERING TUTORIAL FOR FINE PITCH QFP DEVICES" from SiLabs Interesting link! But why having this unsane barbecue on the board?? Anchoring a wire with 422°C (800°F) at a 0805-SMD-cap on board, will very probably shock-heat this cap. Not at all a good idea! Tsuneo said:
Use tons of non-corrosive liquid soldering flux. I do not agree. Hot or even steamy flux at the wire to package interface of chip will lead to early mortality, especially if the pin wire becomes too hot when soldering and the temperature exceeds the glass transition point of epoxy material of package. Add only little flux, if at all, and solder at low temperature. I use no-clean solder without additional flux and solder at 250° (0603 SMD-caps) to 300°C (SMD-chips). Through- hole parts get soldered at 350°C, wires which are connected to solid ground plane (via heat traps) at up to 400°C. Kai |
