#131246 - your test subjects.... :-) Responding to: ???'s previous message |

My practice is to discard suspect parts, no matter how nearly functional they may be. I had already wasted enough time on these 20-year old parts, and don't need to waste another minute on them. I understand why did you throw them out, it's just a little bit pity. So far, I haven't seen a partially malfunctioning '51 - I have seen a lot of them completely dead, most of them if not any after considerable abuse (overvoltages, wring insertion into socket); and a second group with one leg dead, clearly being zapped in some way. I can produce any amount of both groups on request... :-) But a specimen exhibiting weird an unexpected behaviour would be a perfect test subject for your test, wouldn't it... JW PS. I learned not to throw the defective or suspicious parts out as I might need to show them up to my employer or or client; so I scratch an X on them hard using a sharp screwdriver as soon I spot them, then after removing from board, if any legs remained, I bend them or tear them off... I now rarely do hardware/repair/rework, but back then I kept them in a box I called "cemetery"... |
