#117425 - V vs C
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I don't know the '668, but Philips moved from P89C51RD2 to P89V51RD2 and I tried to find out, why. My conclusion, without having inside information, just from what I gathered by experiments is, that the V is either a OEM chip, or a result of cooperation, with SST. The 'V's core is different from the 'C's - see the "push SP" thread (AFAIR even Bill Houghton confirmed this difference). The 'V' has signature bytes indicating it is SST part rather than Philips. The boot flash and even SoftICE is the same as with SST - actually, I use SST's documents about SoftICE, as Philips did not bother to publish them.
