ISP is the means for programming the Flash from "outside" while IAP is the means for programming it from "inside" (self-programming). I am sure the IP vendor is able to answer your questions if they provide Flash to the '51. Extra SFRs are usually involved in IAP, although in the "precooked" chips on the market (e.g. the RD2 sub-family) this is often hidden by a software layer, providing an API to the user (and the same piece of embedded SW is often used also for the ISP).
I thought that this /PSEN, /OE, /RD AND connecting can be made also internal in the IP core. Sure it can, but it's a single AND gate anyway... :-) I guess I have to simple play a little bit with FlashMon asm files . It would be nice if you'd let us know of your findings. Jan Waclawek |
