Like I said, steppers are nasty for this, if you have positonal feedback, can't you use DC drives instead ? This is why CNC machines use DC drives.


This project is not going for production it is one off automation project. The customer has already purchased steppers and drives for it so not possible to go fot DC now. For this project I will somehow manage by using damper and for future projects i will make sure not to use steppers with encoders.

Can AC motors with a VFD be used with encoders to make a closed loop system or its only DC thats works good.
