#112648 - Current source output Responding to: ???'s previous message |

... and replaced the output 200R pots by 10k pots because they seem to be overloading the DDS. Remember, the output is a current source! A current source output produces a signal that is the higher the higher the load impedance is. Assume you have 1Vs at 300 Ohm load impedance. Then you will get 0.5Vs at 150 Ohm. But not because the output is clipping or something else, but only because the same output current produces half the signal voltage at half the load impedance. You cannot make a current source clip by decreasing the load impedance more and more, as you can do it with a standard voltage source output. The only problem with a current source output is the maximum compliance voltage. So, you should be careful when increasing the load impedance with a current source output. And: A current source output normally needs a load impedance connected to output to work properly. Without this load impedance no signal voltage can be generated. Kai |
