I know that, but visualize the following hypothetical (but not unlikely) case: The 'brilliant' chip designers have not forseen that anyone would be stupid enough to write the next byte before that 'ready' bit came true. Some "kitchen table programmer designer" "tested" that it was not needed to test the ready bit and published his 'tested' design. Ignoring the 'wait for ready' causes the programming pulse to be shortened because the chip designer did not idiot proof the design of the programming circuitry. The above is, as stated, hypothetical, and I have no intention of diving into Atmel programming to find a case which is not hypoothetical. The fact is that you can create unforseen consequences by not following instructions to the letter. Erik |
