People learn by making mistakes.
Absolutely, but what if they do not know it is a mistake?
If someone makes something work in a less than optimum way, how does he know it is a "mistake"?

I started in this business long before the internet, discussion forums etc. and made many things that worked, which I, today, regret I made that way. Some were too costly because I did not know the existence of a much cheaper method (and, in those days, chips cost real money). Some were too limited because I knew no better, but they all worked. That should illustrate that I did not "learn from my mistakes" that I did not know were mistakes.
