I have interfaced a 20x2 LCD to my 8052 board. Please look at the following files. They are the codes to Initialize, Read and Write to LCD. These codes are in assembly language, but you can compile them to OBJ files, make the functions PUBLIC in the files, and use them in your C programs.

The LCD is decoded on my board at 0xE500 and 0xE501 addresses. Please take a look at the Address decoder and LCD connections on the following links.

As far as the 74C922 is concerned, a very helpful link that i found is mentioned below. It has the datasheet of the IC and sample codes and how to connect it to your BASIC Stamp II, but u can easily connect it to your 8051/8052.
