While a key is pressed on the 4x4 matrix keypad to which this device is suited, you will be able to detect a strobe and a f-bit code. All you have to do is "look" at the strobe with either a port bit or an interrupt, and, since it's so slow, I'd recommend you use a polled port bit whenever you expect input from the keypad. When you "see" the strobe, then you read the four-bit code and process it in whatever way you see appropriate.

I have no idea what sort of LCD you're planning to use, so I can't help you. However, before you pursue this matter any further, I'd suggest you search the archive here for LCD. There is no point in wasting everyone else's time repeating themselves just because you haven't searched yet.
