When a guy says I want to use a <insert device name here> with a <insert other device name here> I'm not at all sure it helps to start asking questions about WHY he wants to do that
It will not help when he has made/bought the board before asking, but if that is not the case, and you take this thread as a reference, he has been given suggestions to ease coding ease hardware design use less pins save money You can not disregard that someone may have obtained an old (by electronic standards) book and are trying to start from there. If such is the case and a design based on 74c922, 8255 UV erasable PROM is proposed and the OP has not obtained anything is it not better advice to say "get an ISP chip and a few latches" than to send him out to pay $$$ for antique chips not to mention an UV eraser and the components for a programmer (that he probably never will get to work anyhow)? the earlier thunder and lightning scared him off.
