Well, that's because the poster is becoming increasingly pressed to solve his problem, whether it's for work, school, or whatever, and has probably, and for unknown reasons, committed to a particular approach to solving his problem. Trying to persuade him to change, no matter how well-intentioned, will make him MORE desperate to get an answer to the questions he initially asked. I think it's incumbent on those who can honestly answer his question to do so and refrain from offering unrequested advice until the question has been fully answered. After that, well, you're on your own.
