No issue, if you need more than 128k, you have chosen the wrong architecture. and, most of all, because they don't drop into a DIP40 socket, they don't fill all amateur needs. I correct with the bold since no industrial app is made today in anything but surface mount. The DS89C4x0's allow execution rate changes .. under software control. so does the SILabs These MCU's are in full production, so they should be readily available. so are the SILabs I have no objection to the Dallas chip, I just can not see, even with staring, any advantage for professional use (no disadvantage either, but have not looked for such).
