#111926 - that IS irrelevant why would you want to Responding to: ???'s previous message |
You said compatibility, I cannot even upgrade a design from the vanilla variety of 51 to Silabs or LPC9xx, because the supply changes.
that IS irrelevant why would you want to do that 1) there are plenty of 5V DIL derivatives 2) the move from 5V to 3V3 is not a '51 issue, it is an industry issue. 3) the traditional '51 was a 40 pin DIL why do you compare to others, not e.g. the Rx2. Philips did admit later that the early LPC9xx had a serial programming bug, and would need a parallel programmer to restore serial programmability. So I will take their word over your any day of the week and twice on Sundays, magic or otherwise. well, you do what you want. The LPC never had a "serial programming bug", it had a "serial programming activation bug". The NoTouch users never saw the bug, since NoTouch circumvented the whole stupid Philips activation method. The method is still stupid, the fact that it works in later revisions do not make it less so. Even the vanilla variety of Philips changed from 89C51UBPN, then BPN, with change in programming algo/ timing, after which my customers gave up. The 89S52 from Atmel again has a different algo/ timing. the programmers I have followed that evolution with no trouble. I had software updates before I saw the chips I am sure you are not aware that the simulator for PIC has scripting language which is documented. You can add your own simulation and on the forum we share this info. I could not care less about simulation. Simulations have led to ever so many "but it works in the simulator, nothing is wrong" bullshit postulates. A simulator "simulates" and how long would you live if you simulated eating instead of actually eating. why do free tools stink? Simply because when you get them for free you have no right to demand a fix in a reasonable time. I have emulators I have paid for and what bugs I have found in the past have been fixed in a day or two. I have a free emulator with outstanding bug reports more than 6 months old. It would be unethical of me to entice a dealer to stock a new or an odd chip if it is for students, or in house learning development. This where samples help here you got me. How can a dealer give samples of somethig (s)he does not have. Terms such as vomit and nausea are not the words to describe anybody's baby. True, what a baby mainly produces is different and comed from the other end. My reference to someones baby referred to the fact that you feel offended because I am "not nice to" the PIC, which, after all, is just a chip. iuf you want to "analyze" my language you should include from another post "(blasphemously I'll say "they probably have a better solution for some apps that the available '51 derivatives").
