When I retired, five years ago, I had to decide which micro to concentrate on, as I could not afford development kit for more than one type on my limited budget. I looked closely at the PIC because it was very popular (I thought I might even make some money writing articles on it in technical magazines). However, as Erik says, as soon as I looked closely I began to feel very very sick.
