Hello

Problem may be with reseting the device. so, make sure whether u considered the below point which is mentioned in the datasheet of 8255 for reseting it.

"NOTE: Period of initial Reset pulse after power-on must be at least 50µsec. Subsequent Reset pulses may be 500ns minimum."
