True. But if I'm using some 3rd party RTOS, there may all kinds of issues doing this. In any event I was merely pointing out that what's good for a generic "1 size fits all" OS, is makes for a significant compromise in an embedded system, and you're likely to end up with extra baggage.

Yep. Here's where my inexperience shines thru. I'm used to receiving the "OS" as a finished product from a third party that doesn't share. This is probably not going to be the case on an 8-bit embedded system.
