NOW, IF this is something that is risetime critical or such, it is another story, but driving a relay - come on.

If you tell me to give a circuit for the the issue stated by the OP i would have not used the below two resistors.
1) 10K between B-E of BC556.
2) 1K2 between B-E of BC337.
I think without this two also the circuit would work fine.
But, on looking at the circuit, i couldnt trace out the benefit of those two resistors..,
and also, by using this, how the circuit reacts?

Hence, i thought know about the voltage drops in the resistors.
