... that although gcc is not optimal for 8-bitters, the avr implementation is "good enough" to be used even comercially.
Of course there are multiple criteria but if we go purely for the code space and if we believe the "68%" figure as stated by IAR, (based on the low cost of flash nowadays) I say that is not enough justification for many - even commercial - applications. Personal opinion. Arguable, as usually. JW PS. Erik, thanks for your comments and hints, I appreciate them, really; but we won't discuss my personal choice of tools, will we?
