#135188 - ... and you're sure it doesn't emulate a laserjet? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Most laser printers have an emulation of an HP LaserJet as one of their operating modes. I have PostScript printers and PCL printers, yet all of them either are, or they emulate HP laser printers if told to do so.
Perhaps a peek at the owner's manual would help you. If not, the printer will be obsolete when the world finally wises up and doesn't use Windows any longer. If you can't make Windows98SE work on your hardware, then there's either something wrong with you or with the hardware. It's the most stabile, relialbe verison of Windows that's ever been released. Left to its own devices '95 seldom ran for a day even if it was idle. I've got one box running '98SE that has only been power-cycled when it was necessary to reboot because of an update or to install hardware in 6 years. It's never crashed on its own. I can't make that claim for '95, since I replaced it the minute I had '98 on hand. If you can't print to your printer from DOS, spend the $5 to get a second hand printer that's a REAL printer, not a WinPrinter. RE |
