#134871 - There's a learning curve with any package Responding to: ???'s previous message |
but before you decide on one, consider the old DOS-based OrCAD package that's discussed in a dedicated discussion group on YAHOO. It's available at no cost, and works WAY better, easier, and faster than any of the multi-hundred-k-buck packages I see and use every day. I'e got the latest OrCAD for Windows, Altium, Mentor, and Cadence packages in front of me all the time, yet prefer the old DOS-OrCAD386+ package.
I know you'd prefer a Windows-based package, but Windows makes nearly anything 10x as slow, and, by comparison with this old tool, most Windows-based tools are 100x as slow. The package includes a schematic editor, a logic simulator, a PLD processor and modeling tool, and a PCB editor/autorouter. It's user-supported via that discussion group, and I find it easier to get help there than through the various "biggies." The price is right, too! RE |
