#134893 - The DOS-OrCAD files import into Capture Responding to: ???'s previous message |
as do the libraries. I don't know what the deal with Allegro is, as, although it's on the OrCAD menu, I haven't used it since the latest release.
Not that it's possible, but not terribly convenient, to use the old 16-bit DOS-OrCAD and upgrade them to the 386+ versions and only then can you import them into the Windows-based OrCAD software environment. The DOS environment allows you to design a circuit, autoroute the PCB, and order the boards in the time it takes the complete Windows-based software to load. You can generate really decent schematics, not necessarily the "prettified" version I like, but as good as many packages generate, and better than most, and export their netlists to other PCB routers if you like. It has more flexibility than most Windows-based packages in that respect. Even bEagle accepts netlist output from OrCAD, though you have to tell it to produce the appropriate format. That's one good way to avoid that ultra-terrible schematic editor that comes with bEagle. RE |
