I figured it would be pretty obvious from the memory size that it wasn't an 805x type I'm trying to equip this time. I was just hoping to shorten my trade-study by inquiring here, where there's much accumulated wisdom about what's available.

Yes, shadowing the ROM is a common practice, and shouldn't be overlooked where speed beyond what can be supported with the typically 70 ns FLASH memory is desired.

As memory size in MCU's in general has increased, performance demand has increased as well, since more memory leaves room for more tasks. More speed is needed in order to get them all done, though. It's a never-ending story, isn't it?
