I don't think anyone actually attacked the OP - just expressed their opinion that they couldn't see the point, and asked him to explain a bit further.

I think that's perfectly valid - an idea may seem daft initially, but make sense with some further exlanation (for me, that point has not yet been reached with this idea, though!)
