If one way link is needed then the integration chips will work standalone... without a micro controller.

Once protocols and anti-collison are involved a micro controller needs to be used.

So your $2 target with TRx will need to factor in the cost of a micro.

at 100k pcs you might be able to meet the cost requirement... excluding the battery.
