#111132 - CHEAP, SIMPLE local RF link? |
I've read, with interest, some of the conversation regarding various RF links using 805x devices.
I've also wanted to find a low-cost (on the order of the RFID stuff, typically <<$1 per unit) that I could use in a really small system. I want to monitor, say, two bits of external signal, drive, perhaps, four bits of external hardware, and communicate with a base, over a "four-wire" link similar to what's used with wired networks, but using an RF link over a range mainly indoors and not exceeding, say, 20 meter range. In fact, 10-meter range would probably be adequate. I've considered power-line comm also, but I have a physical size limit, namely, I have to have my package, externally powered with a wall-wart, live in a package no larger than half a matchbox, e.g. 10 mm x 50 mm x 30 mm. Smaller would be better, and, in fact, the size of a small lithium battery would be perfect. I've looked at various vendors' sites, and find the cost MUCH higher than what I want, or the size much larger. Surely at least a few of you fellows have seen/heard of something that might work. Any/all suggestions are welcome. I've searched the local resource, but, while I got many hundreds of hits, the first twenty in each case, were quite irrelevant. Too bad ... RE |
