Never assume a Newbie knows what he whats.
Anyone coming the 8052 from the PC assumes there is no other way to program. Many will use the worst IDE becuase it is free. They do not know that you can compile from the commadline. Keil gives you a nice IDE with click options, a simulator, and interface to some emultors. It does not work with all emulators. And maybe I want to use the same editor with all my CPUs. There are many C compatible text editors from free (I like textpad) to big bucks (Codewrite). You can program in notepad. Most will call a compiler from its own menu. So do you need and IDE "No", you have other options. A newbie may not know that. Pointing it out is no crime. The OP (Another Drive by) should have indicated in his later posts what he realy wanted. He could have responded, and this thread could have been avoided. BTW what works best for one developer (PROFIT) may slow down another (profit). Do not think so??
