Whether its pertinent in this case or not I think too many people expect answers from forums like these, without searching first, without putting in the work we had to.

My point is that such opiniated views like Erik's is what he is already getting from his professors, why then come here?
What is wrong with Erik's opinion ? I don't see why he has to worship the god of IDE, sometimes I do, sometimes I script, some times I just CLI. An IDE doesn't make things easier necessarily.

I interact intimately with students here. I keep pushing them to search the web, visit forums like these or the Microchip forum. One reason I keep pushing is that nobody here can fail them in their termwork if they ask wrong or stupid questions


You'd fail them for asking stupid questions ?
We can't "Fail them", but surely we're entitled to say its a stupid question ? Its kinder sometimes.
