I actually got 2 BS degrees, in hardware engineering technology and software engineering technology. Each degree is a 4 year degree. They also have a plan to get both degrees in 5 years, which I opted for (a lot higher credit load than one degree alone).
A lot of the state schools here look down at us for having a 'technology' degree vs. 'real engineering' degree. However, they learn mostly theory and no hands on, whereas we (I) got some theory and a ton of hands on. I had 8051 assembly as part of the hardware degree, and x86 assembly for the software degree. Now I do mostly embedded software (8051 C & asm) for hardware I've designed and built. They just started an actual embedded program at the college I hope to help out with. /slightly off topic -Dave |
