My chip is in a commercial board with a 5V Vcc. I had always assumed that the 5131 was the 5V version and that the 5131A was the 3.3V version.

None of the current data sheets explain my chip markings. But your explanation would suggest: -IL for 3.3V and -IM for 5V.
