#141970 - isp entry on /PSEN - as with the old \'C51Rx2 Responding to: ???'s previous message |
NXP must've gotten lots of feedback on this because the rep came back with the CV51 solution pretty quick I think the sequence of events was: - NXP dropped a manufacturing line where the old 'C51Rx2s were produced - they looked for quick replacement, found the pretty similar SST's 89E/V564/516s, made a deal with SST as per relabelling (from recent posts it appears, that they transited from '564 to '516, as they are very similar, some of the customers get caught by the different ID when parallel programming) - failed to notify properly the customers, failed to prepare proper transition documents (the one available came out months later - and reportedly contains errors; the replacement bootloader partially solving the problem came months after the first complaints) - got a bunch of angry customers - quickly (well, quickly... months again...) prepared the replacement, quietly placed the datasheet on the website and, apparently, using some of the customers as betatesters :-( I wonder whether the 'CV-s are produced by SST, too.
