#141962 - P89C51RB2BA & internal XRAM
Responding to: ???'s previous message

What's the full part No - there was one with a H for high speed (default 6clock).

Do you use real external memory or the internal-external memory on chip setting EXTRAM in the AUX register?

It's the non-H part: P89C51RB2BA.
And I should have been clearer that it is the internal XRAM.

Because another programmer came across this, and since one programmer rarely trusts what another does, I may have to write something in assembly to try it myself. He did it in C (Keil) with all sorts of extraneous code. I want to simplify the test to the bare minimum needed.

I've got a tech report in to NXP. I'll let everyone know if they report something back.

ps I got the samples from the NXP local rep. They failed to properly notify us of the obsolescence of the 51Rx2 family, but the part they recommended (V51Rx2) does NOT allow you to enter ISP by holding /PSEN=0 at power-up! So it wasn't exactly what we would call a drop-in replacement. NXP must've gotten lots of feedback on this because the rep came back with the CV51 solution pretty quick. The CV51 does allow this method of ISP entry.
