ICE systems usually handle the complex breakpoints in its hardware. Some do not. That is where the Full Speed most likley came from.

In the end All debugging tools , Full ICE included, have limitations. The programmer get the job of figuring out if a 0.20 USD Led finds the bug, or a 2,000USD emulator, or what ever a logic Analyer cost.
I once had a bug only a printf could find (Not 8052) The messages came out in the wrong order, Someone did not wait his turn.
