I am writing source code for a real time clock.
Iam using AT89S52 for this application.
But iam not aware of the "effective debugging techniques" that could be used to check the proper functionality of my source code.
Could i get some information on it?

I may not be using an emulator. So, can a alternative hardware setup (where i could provide some inputs required) be used to debug after programming the Microcontroller?

Iam not much clear on this subject and hence thought to have a discussion.
