That's not quite true. Or at least you can try to avoid many pitfalls in C that would make your program slower than it has to be
Christoph gives just one example. The whole thing should be carefully crafted. Some will say "when I have to 'craft' C for te '51, where is the advantage?" granted, initially there is none, but the "beneficial to the '51 C style" soon becomes second nature and then 'crafting' is as fast as 'willy-nilly C coding'.
