Just to clear up some points:
This thread wasn't about the wisdom of using rotary switches, but how to implement them. I have a LOT of experience with chess clocks and am convinced that rotary switches, or something similar, is a better way to go. Unfortunately they cost too much so I decided to just make one clock for myself instead of dropping the whole idea -- because I've always wanted to make something based on an MCU, only having worked with TTL before. Unfortunately, this project is turning out to be a lot more than I'd bargained for. So I think I'll put it on hold while I get into Robotics -- something else I'd kept for my old age. Peter. |
