Bung it in a piece of grounded copper tube - field won't see it, but electric field induced nasties will. Use twisted pairs INSIDE a screen to eliminate magnetic effects.

Choke the incoming signal to your processor board, and then shape the signal back up if you have to with a logic gate. Get the signal clean fast as soon as it enters your enclosure.
