#109499 - Depends on ferrite material Responding to: ???'s previous message |

But what about the current capability versus the package size ?
I think bigger packages could handle more current ? Of course. But this doesn't really matter. With the proper ferrite material even 0603 package can withstand high currents. Also, important is not the impedance at a certain frequency, but too have as high as possible dampening in a whole range of frequencies! And when you work with fast digital chips, then you need high dampening even at 1GHz, because the harmonics of square pulses and Vcc glitches are that high. By the way, the '742792651' in 0603 package I use is a high current type and can withstand DC currents of up to 1A! So, when using this ferrite bead for currents of only up to 50mA, I do not have the least saturation effects. Have a look by yourself: http://www.we-online.de/we_web/em...id=4&lan=1 Kai |
