#107449 - ZigBee and 8051
Hello Friends,

A very Happy New year to all of you. It is really a pleasure to be back among friends.

One of our forum members ( Vignesh ) is doing a project for remote data logging using the ZigBee protocol. In a casual chat he mentioned this and it was quite appealing.

I am looking to collect sensor data from the periphery of a hydraulic test rig and feed it into the PC running the control code. The normal way of connecting the sensor with cables is quite messy due to the fact that the whole machine is almost drenched in oil.

In Vignesh's case, he is forced to use a Chipcon CC2420 transceiver which his college is providing. I was looking for a more off-the shelf offering and landed on the Helicomm 1220-2033 module which has a Silab 8051 compatible on board and ZigBee library called IP-Link. For such of those interested in library documentation the link is here : http://www.helicomm.com/download/...glish).pdf

I would like to know if any of you have used this module or some other from Helicomm ? If yes then I am interested to know the ease / limitations of these modules. ( each is priced at USD 45 and I am doubtfull if I am missing something ).

I am just learning this ZigBee from yesterday and any more inputs / links are most welcome.

Thanks folks.

Raghu
