Although the Christmas are over, I was working on it a bit more in the hope of Christmas in the following years.
Besides some minor cleaning up of the code and adding some more comments, three more "effects" have been added: the "Knight Rider" in two modifications (simply running from side to middle and back and running from side to middle, then halfway back, again to middle and to side); and a ping-pong.
