I am not a great fan of any lager style beers, I like something with a bit more variation of taste - English bitters like Timothy Taylor's "Landlord", a late hopped beer I will always seek out. I know the Slovaks brew good beer, but we don't see much here but Budowar. Having worked in Russia for a couple of weeks in the year, I developed a taste for some of their darker beers too.

Of the Belgian beers, I prefer their trappist beers like Chimay or Westmalle , there are some other cherry and raspberry beers which have a lambic quality. For this discussion we need a real expert like Patrick to reappear. I spent a happy evening this year experimenting with Belgian beer in a bar near Antwerp with him.
